Press Release Body = HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - April 16, 2007 - ADTRAN, Inc., a leading
supplier of next-generation network solutions, today announced that Frontier
Communications, a subsidiary of Citizens Communications Company (NYSE:CZN), has
approved ADTRAN's Total Access 5000 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform
for deployment in its network. This approval extends ADTRAN's reach into Frontier's
network, which already uses ADTRAN's Total Access 3000 and remote DSLAM products.
"ADTRAN is a long-term, strategic partner for Frontier's access networks," said
Michael Golob, vice president of Network Services and Technology, Frontier. "We have
been extremely pleased with ADTRAN's service and commitment. Acceptance of the Total
Access 5000 as an Ethernet DSLAM and broadband DLC will enhance our relationship.
More importantly, it will allow Frontier to continue to provide cost-effective
next-generation services to our customers."
"The independent market is a core business area for ADTRAN," said P. Steven Locke,
vice president of Sales, Service Providers, ADTRAN. "Our focus on independent
customers is unparalleled in the industry, and the Total Access 5000 is another
example of our commitment to this market."
The ADTRAN Total Access 5000 is a carrier class multi-service access and aggregation
platform that bridges the gap between existing and next-generation networks. It
supports both legacy and emerging service interfaces over copper and fiber, easily
scaling to support bandwidth intensive applications. The Total Access 5000 provides
a clear migration path for traditional services such as voice through its flexible
network uplink options, including support for both TDM and VoIP switches. Its
ability to convert traditional voice and legacy data to IP provides carriers with a
platform that seamlessly integrates with IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS) standards.
